Instructional Research Group is an educational research institute located in Los Alamitos, California. Our director, Russell Gersten, is a nationally renowned researcher in Education. We specialize in large-scale program evaluation field research in the areas of reading, mathematics, education of English Language Learners, and professional development.

Our projects include:

• Development of classroom observation instruments

• Methods for assessing implementation

• RCTs examining the impacts of professional development in reading and mathematics

• Response to intervention (RtI) in mathematics and reading

• Teaching English learners

We have conducted numerous meta-analyses and research synthesis of intervention research in the areas of math, reading, and English learners. IRG’s senior staff remains at the forefront of research and expertise in mathematics and reading instruction, response to intervention, and research methodology.
